Last week I was able to successfully break my deadlift record. I decided on Monday to make an effort to see what I could do with my squat goal. The heaviest I had been able to squat was 385 pounds and I wanted to break that. I took the same mindset that I did with my deadlift…just warm up and attack it.
After I warmed up with the bar and moved up to five and three reps at a heavier weights, I decided to try for 410 pounds… A full 25 pounds over my previous max. I put forth my best effort but want able to get it up (hee hee). Thankfully there are safe cars in the rack. I didn’t want to give up after that failure, so I dropped it down to 390 pounds and was able to achieve that on the very next attempt.
Many times in my life I had a small failure and decided to throw in the towel. I am glad I didn’t do that on Monday. Instead of giving up, I made another effort and put up a new personal record.
The rest of the day was good. I had my coffee and some protein powder in the morning and enjoyed a turkey meatballs salad for dinner. At first I was worried is be starving, but that wasn’t the case. I am really wanting to eat better but still enjoy Saturday, so going back to an old routine.
Overall, Monday was a great start to another very, very busy and stressful week.
