I do enjoy donuts quite a bit. Dunford donuts are hard to beat. I know people who think that things like Krispy Kreme are the bomb (hi dad) but nothing beats a good heavy, cake-like donuts. My boss brought in donuts on Wednesday and I was glad that I had already had my oatmeal or I may have given in. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind eating foods that I enjoy, but there’s no reason for me to eat a donut when I just finished my breakfast. So I said no.

And that is a pretty big step for me. It’s actually happened a few times since I started this project. We get free snacks once per week and I have turned almost all of them down. There are some I have no interest in like chips and salsa, rice krispie treats (most of the time) and muffins, but there are also cookies and donuts and bagels which I really enjoy. But I haven’t given in to those for the vast majority of time. That is one thing I am trying to teach myself… saying no to food isn’t a bad thing. It doesn’t mean I am missing out on the most amazing thing on the planet. I am just choosing to eat something else vs. those delicious items.

All of this humble-bragging doesn’t come with a dark side. I haven’t eaten the best this week despite being within my calories. I am sort of “cleaning house” on what I have available before I come up with a new menu next week. Most of it will be similar (like my turkey and chicken parmesan bake) but I will be changing some things around and eating throughout the day instead of just at night. I am being honest with what I eat and haven’t yet gone out of bounds, but I am toeing the line a bit every now and then.

I had a good day at work, good day getting steps in and exercising and pushed myself a little extra on the elliptical. I really can’t wait until my shoulder and feet are better (hopefully they are someday, and preferably soon) so I can get back to normal, but I am doing what I can while I have to. I am planning on doing another leg day on Thursday and will have to hope I can run or something on Monday because it’s a holiday and I won’t be getting to the gym. Not to mention my exercise on Saturday. Come on, feet!
