Yesterday was doctor day. I had a follow-up on my shoulder and figured I’d schedule some time to see a “regular” doctor and do a yearly checkup. I haven’t had a primary care provider so I figured it was a good time to get one of those, plus I need to check to see if I am healthy.
The follow-up on the shoulder went well. I had stitches removed, he said everything looks to be healing well and that I no longer need to use the sling. I also asked about my left shoulder (which has felt a lot better) and he said it may be from using that arm more than normal with the sling. He says if it continues, that we can look into investigating if I need to do the same thing to that shoulder.
Following that, I went to my new primary care provider and got the full works. Physically I am fine (other than overweight, deaf in one ear, shoulder surgery) but they took blood to check my kidneys, thyroid, cholesterol and for diabetes/pre-diabetes. I am also starting a sleep study to see if I need to get a CPAP machine for sleep apnea. And finally, I am starting high blood pressure medication for my chronic (even as a teenager) high blood pressure that has never been dealt with. Part of it was my fault, but I’ve never had a doctor tell me to get put on anything, so I took it into my own hands this time.
Other than that very long day tied in with work, I was able to finish my Lazy Triathlon, eat my dinner that my lovely wife made for me while I was still at the doctor and enjoy relaxing for a couple hours before heading to bed early.
