So as I said on Saturday, I really wanted to “abuse” my Free Day this week. However, I didn’t do that. Instead, I enjoyed it while still staying within my calories. I had a nice dinner while on my date with my wife, had some popcorn at the movie and enjoyed some oatmeal for a dessert. Not just oatmeal, of course, but oatmeal with dark chocolate and peanut butter. Pretty much the only way to eat oatmeal.
As for the movie, we went and saw Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood. Upon seeing the previews, I really had little to no interest (closer to no) in seeing it, but I kept hearing rave reviews from people I trusted, critics liked it (which means nothing to me), audiences liked it, and I decided to give it a shot. I now wish I had those three hours back.
Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t a terrible movie. But I think it tried too hard to NOT have a real plot. Yeah, it’s about an actor who is starting to lose his star power, but it didn’t really focus on that. It didn’t focus on the stunt man. It didn’t focus on Spahn Ranch. It took little bits and pieces and tied it together in a way that really didn’t keep my interest. It wasn’t until about the last 15 minutes that something exciting happened, and then it was over. I am not artsy-fartsy movie guy, so maybe that is who really enjoyed this, but it is the worst Tarantino movie I’ve seen (I love the guy) and just a not great movie overall.
Other than wasting three hours in a movie and enjoying some great food, I did go for a 6 mile run attempt. It was tough as my back was hurting and both of my shoulders are giving me problems. I think I am calling the doctor’s office on Monday to ask them if they can pencil in a look at my left shoulder while I am following up on my surgery.

I have to say I have had no interest in seeing this movie…I will maintain that level of interest and not bother 🙂
I actually haven’t seen a lot of the newer Tarantino movies… but i love his older stuff (which when I actually think about it is probably far older than I think!)
