Or will I…?

No, I am not going anywhere. I am still doing my project, still bettering myself, and still making progress. No, this is more about my running and how I am progressing. As I said from the beginning, I am going to keep my expectations low, but today proved that I can get back to where I want to be a little quicker than I had hoped. At least in my eyes.

I’ve been doing either my alternating running/walking with songs or sprinting/walking by time. And today I decided to try to run as far as I could before I stopped to walk. I’m happy to say that I was able to finish a 5K (3.1 miles) while only walking through part of a song. I was able to complete the 5K in 00:36:38. While I would normally be down on how much slower that is than what I did only 5 or 6 months ago, I need to remember I am building back up. 12 minutes per mile only 18 days into this project is pretty damn good.

And that is something I need to do more often. Pick myself up when I accomplish something, not tear myself down because I didn’t do it as good as someone else, or as good as I have before, or for any other reason. As the old cliche goes, what I am doing is lapping everyone sitting on the couch.

In other news, I did miss one hour of 250+ steps today due to… well, being busy. I could have gotten up but for some reason I spaced it. Oh well, gonna be a rough week on that particular goal, but everything else is going well.

Finally… I can’t do the chicken and veggies thing. It is so much damn food and even splitting it into other meals it is just too much. Going to have to find something else to eat. But I have ideas…

    Brilliant work on 5k! no matter how much running I have done up to and including a half marathon, it has always been intervals!! so I am super impressed, whether you are as quick now as you once were/will be in the future is completely immaterial…it is brilliant for now!! 😀

    1. Thanks! I am proud of how quickly it’s all coming back even though I know I have a long way to go. I can’t wait to start running races again! Planning on a possible full marathon next spring or fall.
