I am a competitive asshole.

I am most definitely not ashamed to say that with my head held high. I have never been one to let anyone win. If you beat me, you beat me at my best. It doesn’t matter if it is my kids, my wife, my parents, my friends… I will give it 100% every single time.

Because this week is the step challenge at work, I am going to do all that I can to try to win. Will I? Probably not. There always seems to be people who either cheat or somehow are able to get 40,000 steps every single day. But I will do the best I can and if they beat me, they beat the best me.

I started off by walking to and from the train which makes up about 3.6 miles alone. Then I did about 4.5 miles done at the gym with some walking, jogging and running. Then I walked with my friends on both of my breaks and my lunch. That gave me 28,500 steps for the day! I am going to try to get my minimum of 250 steps every hour (because my FitBit pesters me) as long as I don’t have meetings.

That also means that I am going to be skipping out on lifting this week. Not only am I wanting to get as many steps as I can, I also am resting my arms which are feeling worse now than they were yesterday. Both are bruised and sore and I just don’t want to mess with them right now. So this week will be all about cardio and steps.

    1. Thanks! My friends and I dedicate both our breaks and our lunch 30 minutes or so to walking so it helps. But I get roughly half my steps before I even get to work!
