Change

So I realized after posting my post for the weekend that I made the mistake of talking about Monday.  I wasn’t supposed to do that.  I was supposed to only talk about the weekend.  That got me thinking; maybe I should go back to posting at the end of the day.  It can’t be that hard, right?  I did it before.  And right now, it is getting more difficult to post in the morning due to me having to work before I have time to finish it.  Half of the time I actually type it up the night before anyway.

So here it is… the end of Monday and I am talking about Monday.  About how I wanted to get up and work out but couldn’t because the bed was so comforting… about how I hate Mondays… about how it was so busy today I wanted to curl up in the corner and suck my thumb or a bottle of rum.  And about how I finally went back to the gym.

It had been more than a month since I stepped foot in the gym.  Some of it was because I was running outside instead of inside on a treadmill.  Some of it was because I was focusing on running more than lifting weights.  But most of it was because of the steps challenge I was doing.

Well, that is all over now and – despite me failing this morning – I was able to get into the gym this afternoon.  I started out lightly and only did about 6 exercises followed by some core exercises and some walking.  I am not sure if I am going to go back to doing circuit training or just stick with lifting but we’ll see how things go for now.

It felt good to lift though it is still far too busy at the gym.  Too many teenagers standing around pumping iron for a few seconds and then talking about whatever.  Too many people who don’t know how to use the equipment but sit on it anyway.  Too many, too many, too many.

Now I know the gym is not my domain, but sometimes I wish I could personally rent it for an hour per day.  I hate trying to squeeze between other people when working out. I hate trying to use specific weights only to find one or both of them missing, hunting for specific plates, waiting to use the barbells.  There is always something happening to prevent me from moving nice and smoothly through my routine.

Maybe I need to see how much it would cost to build myself a gym.
