My company is doing a contest in order to raise money for a local food bank.  That contest consists of teams of 4 measuring steps for 4 weeks.  The highest team and person/people get prizes, everyone gets to move more and get exercise and the food bank gets some money to help people out.

Have I ever mentioned that I am extremely competitive?

The main problem with this contest is that the website that tracks it shows all of the information.  I can see how many steps other people have taken and how many steps on average each team has taken.  That means that if I am not on top – and my team is not on top – I want to push even harder.

After I noticed one guy who is averaging about 25-30k steps per day, I figured there was nothing I could do to stop a cheater.  I was warned people cheat during these contests, but I guess I had hoped people wouldn’t.  I guess it’s entirely possible that this guy runs 5 or 6 or more miles every single day, but it seems hard to believe.  I am on my feet nearly the entire day and I only get between 14-22k steps each day.  But if this guy is cheating, it will only push me harder.
