The time of year when coughing, sniffles and staying home from school starts happening. The time of year when I have to worry about everything I touch because I might be next. The time of year when an innocent good night smooch from your daughter might lead to copious amounts of vomiting.
In other words, October.
Our daughter decided she didn’t feel good yesterday, and while I tend to think that kids are as crafty today as I was and believe that most of the time they are faking one thing or another to get out of something, I’m guessing she really didn’t feel so hot. That’s great. I’m not a germ-a-phobe but I do tend to wash my hands after using the restroom and not like touching the bathroom doorknob. I also don’t like coughing, sneezing, puking or anything else that goes along with being sick. Does that mean lock the house down and disinfect every inch? No. I’m not as paranoid as some like to think. I am one who believes the more germs my body fights off, the stronger I’ll be.
I just really hate when one gets past my defenses.
But other than the slight panic the afternoon caused me, it was a good day for burning calories. I burned a massive amount for some reason. I haven’t looked too closely at it, but running at the gym certainly helped, on top of all the walking my friend and I do. I probably could have eaten even more if I wanted to, but I figured I wasn’t hungry so there was no reason to force it. I had tried to run for the entire hour at the gym but wasn’t able to get the equipment to cooperate with me, and that frustrated me enough to give up on that idea for now. But I still got a good distance in. Wednesday is the next day I lift weights and my body is so sore it is going to be quite interesting.
