I still haven’t gotten back to lifting.  I found out that (as usual) my body was much more sore Monday than it was on Sunday.  My upper body especially.  I guess pulling myself over walls, bales of hay and mud pits and doing the army crawl can put some stress on some muscles.  That, and my back still isn’t right.  I am definitely going to go back to lifting, but I am not sure if some lifts that involve the back will be possible.  Squats, bent-over-rows and the like may be out the window.

The good news is that my wife and I still went to the gym and still got on the treadmills… and I actually ran another 5K.  Granted, I was on a treadmill in front of a TV listening to SporsCenter, so it wasn’t exactly like running down the blacktop, but it was still a 5K.  I wanted to see if I could do it despite the sore muscles and cuts, scrapes and bruises.  I was able to, obviously, but the surprise is how the pain pretty much disappeared within the first 5 minutes.  I still got a “stitch” in my side about 20 minutes into it that caused me to walk for a minute, but after that I was back at it.  And I was able to finish the 3.1 miles in the fastest time yet.  A mere 36:31.  I’m sure that rates up there in the top 10 terrible times, but it’s a PR for me 🙂

    well done on running another 5k 🙂 and on a terrifying treadmill too, double points from me 😀

    Have you tried the supplement ZMA? It is good for muscle recovery and helps stop aching I have found. In fact I didn’t realise it worked so well until I ran out last week!
    It is zinc, magnesium and vitimin B6…it is worth a try 🙂
