Streeeetch!  Ow!

After doing my first day of Physical Therapy for my back I’ve decided that I hate it already.  It wasn’t painful, it wasn’t necessarily hard, it just takes a LONG TIME to do.  I know, I know, patience is a virtue, good things come to those who wait, blah, blah, blah.  But it takes nearly an hour to do my exercises and stretches, and that is just once per day.  I am supposed to do my stretches 3 times per day.  Who has time for that?  It’s not like I’m laid up at home and can take all the time I need to do them.  Maybe that’s what their made for, but I’ve got a job and things to do and take care of, I can’t lie on my back stretching all day long.

But I’ll keep doing it, at least for now.  I didn’t feel I got any benefit out of it other than a few seconds of relief here and there.  I know it takes time (there’s that “patience” thing again) but… well, I won’t go into all of that again.

I hit the gym for the day at least.  I didn’t do the treadmill and – as stated previously – I won’t be lifting at least this week.  But I did get on the elliptical, hoping for a little relief from the feet pounding of the treadmill.  Did I get any?  Not really.  My back still felt tight and I had to slow down and lean forward here and there.  It seems that changing position all of the time is all that relieves me, but I only have so many positions I can be in!  I refuse to lie on the floor at work… I’ve seen people do that.  But anyway, I got some calories burned, did my stretches, did my PT exercises, made dinner and went to bed.  I did start watching The Sopranos with my wife.  And I’m still married to the best woman in the world.  So there’s a few good things.

Speaking of good things, I’ve learned that Fantasy Football makes you a heartless person.  I am in 2 paid leagues this year and in one of them I picked up David Wilson (Running Back for the New York Giants).  I read a news article last night that Andre Brown (also a Running Back for the New York Giants) fractured his leg in the last game of preseason.  That means that Wilson won’t have as much work taken away by Brown as he would have normally… and this made me happy.  Dude fractures his leg and Earl does a dance.  How sad is that?  In other news, I’m holding my breath that Tebow gets cut.

Breakfast – Overnight oatmeal with dark chocolate
Snacks – Beef jerky
Lunch – Chicken Pot Pie
Dinner – Sesame chicken with rice
Snack – Fig newtons with peanut butter and chocolate syrup
Dessert – Protein shake with Cracklin’ Oat Bran
