Well, didn’t get and do Tabata today.  No excuse… just tired and still slightly sore and we decided to sleep for 3o extra minutes.  It’s all good though, we still got a great day of working out in.  And surprisingly, my wife is excited to start Tabata up again on Sunday.  Wahoo!

I am enjoying this lifestyle.  I enjoy looking at menus and seeing what I can eat and being surprised at things I can (and can’t) eat.  I never knew how many calories were in some things and it is a bit of a shocker.  But eating out is still something I am going to do.  I am not going to be a salad-eating fool.  I want a real, comfortable lifestyle I can do forever.

Meals:

Breakfast – Oatmeal with dark chocolate
Snacks – Yogurt, granola bar and string cheese
Lunch – Steak, mashed cauliflower and corn
Dinner – Quinoa burgers and salad
Dessert – Protein shake with Cracklin’ Oat Bran

Exercise:

An hour of walking at work

3.67 miles in an hour

40 minutes of swimming and an hour of aqua zumba

  1. Salad has it’s place…On someone else’s plate…
    No I am being a bit harsh there, some forms of salad are ok…but I am not one for eating endless leaves…I would rather have a rice/whole grain salad with lots of chicken and nuts and chilli and stuff in which is really healthy and tasty!
    You are right, it is about making good choices that you will be able to stick to rather than eating dull food for a certain time then reverting back to bad habits…I have discovered that the main thing to watch is the sugar content of things…it is empty calories and addictive!

    1. Yep, you’re right. I can have a salad here and there, had some last night with quinoa burgers and it was great. But I think about how there are only like 15 calories in the lettuce itself, how could anyone ever get full on that. Even if you toss in some chicken and salad dressing, you really don’t get a hearty meal. You have to throw in the nuts and cheese and lots of things to make it a good meal, and by that time you may as well have something else!

      Aqua Zumba is pretty fun, my wife and I do it every week when we get the chance. It is surprisingly easy in the water, I’m not sure if I could do it out of the water myself.

      1. I agree about the leaves…they are an accompaniment at best…but there is no point in having a meal that leaves you hungry half an hour later…that way bad snacking lies…

        I only did Zumba on land once to be completely honest…I was going to try sh’bam but the name made me laugh too much…I am absolutely sure I would drown if i tried it in the pool 😀

      2. Luckily the aqua zumba is in shallow water. I still have to go deeper than the ladies because I am so tall, but the water never gets above my chest, so I think you’d be fine!
